Reuse
Housing, fencing, feeders, and tools are repaired and redeployed before anything new is bought.
Our Story
Nugget Farm and Hatchery, LLC is a free-ranged poultry operation in Newberry, Michigan, raising chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, guineas, and quail on the 4R ethos: Reuse, Recycle, Reclaim, Repurpose.
Nugget Farm and Hatchery grew out of a simple question: what does it look like to raise poultry with integrity — for the birds, for the land, and for the people who buy from us?
Under owner Shawn Dupee, the farm has grown to a flock of 300+ birds across six species. Every bird is free-ranged, and every system on the farm — feed, housing, breeding, records — is built to be reused, repaired, and improved rather than replaced.
We're located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and we sell day-old chicks and hatching eggs to backyard flock owners and smallholders who care where their birds come from.
Four principles guide how we build, feed, and run the farm. They're not marketing — they're operating rules.
Housing, fencing, feeders, and tools are repaired and redeployed before anything new is bought.
Bedding, manure, and organic waste are composted and returned to the land as fertility.
Salvaged materials and second-hand equipment are given a second life on the farm instead of being landfilled.
Systems are designed to be re-tasked — a brooder becomes a quarantine pen, a feed bin becomes a nest box.
Availability changes with the season. Reach out and we'll tell you what's hatching.
